MIPS Technologies actively supports, develops and improves the Linux kernel for the MIPS® architecture, in particular MIPS Technologies cores, the MIPS32®, microMIPS™ and MIPS64® ISAs and associated ASEs, the Malta™ and SEAD-3™ platforms. Recent enhancements have included virtual SMP support for the MT (Multi-threading) ASE.

MIPS has entered into a strategic relationship with TimeSys to distribute a version of the development system including kernel, libraries, tools and userland, for the Malta platform with a complimentary, introductory subscription to the LinuxLink service from .
